C. J. Grant
UZAZI Foundation Member
C. J. (Carol) Grant has been working with children, youth, and their families for over 32 years. She began her career as a Child and Youth Worker, obtaining both a Diploma and Degree in this field. She later went on to obtain her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Social Work at York University. She has worked with “at risk” children and youth in group homes, school programs, and community settings; provided family and individual counseling; and taught at George Brown College in their Child and Youth Worker and Social Service Worker Programs.
Volunteering has been an integral part of C. J.’s life. She volunteers in various capacities at her Church and has been the Chapter President for Spelling Bee of Canada’s Ajax-Pickering Region since 2006. She was also a part of World Vision Foster Child Program for several years. Her desire has always been to help children and youth in Jamaica, which World Vision could not fulfill. When she heard of the request for books and other school supplies for the schools supported by the Uzazi foundations, she began purchasing these items so that she could donate to the cause. When the invitation was extended to become a member of the Foundation, she did not hesitate in her acceptance. She is excited to be a part of a foundation whose mandate is to help children and families in need in the Island of Jamaica, and a committed group of people who shares the same passion as she does in helping those in need.
C. J.’s other passions are singing and travelling. She is looking forward to have the opportunity to visit the Uzazi Foundation schools, to see firsthand how Uzazi is making a different on the ground.
