Jo-Anne Cober
Procurement & Logistic Specialist
Jo’s journey with UZAZI began with a phone call.. “we visited a school today with a library but no books…see what you can do.” A few weeks later with the help of social media her home was filled with close to 10,000 books. She believes that children need choices and resources to achieve their educational goals. Reading is such a big part of learning. Jo graduated from Seneca College with a diploma in Early Childhood Education. Her career path changed when her family’s business needed help. For 30 years she has helped managed her family’s retail building supply company, Leathertown Lumber, in Acton Ontario.
Jo is a mother of two grown children, a dog named Vinny and a parrot, Max, and a little cockatiel called Baby. She is also blessed with two beautiful granddaughters. Jo fervently believes that all children need and should have access to education as education helps a person develop personally, socially as well as economically. Being a part of UZAZI, Jo is effective in resolving material sourcing, fundraising and logistics challenges, bringing tools and supplies to schools that need them most. Her role within the foundation is constantly evolving. She also helps with the social media. She enjoys collecting useful items, especially books, and she is usually available for any tasks that need to be fulfilled.
More recently in March she assisted with the logistics around buying transporting and loading the container then having it shipped to Jamaica.
