Janice Jalal is a graduate of the University of the West Indies where she successfully completed a Master of Art Degree in English Language and a Batchelor of Education Degree in Linguistics. She also hold a Diploma in Secondary Education (Linguistics & Literature) from Shortwood Teachers College, the Professional Qualification for Principalship from the NCEL and a Certificate in supervisory Management for Temple University .Mrs. Jalal has served as Senior Teacher, Vice Principal, Acting Principal and now appointed Principal of Denbigh High School in May Pen, Clarendon .
Having been an integral part of the transformation of the institution since 1996, she has successfully implemented several programmes to support the continued growth and development of the institution she now leads. An Adjunct Lecturer with the University College of the Caribbean since 2002. Mrs. Jalal is also the Editor of the CAPE Literatures in English textbook series by Dr Harold Mc Dermott.
In addition, she has been elected Secretary of the Association of Principals and Vice-Principals since 2016 and is the President of Quality Education Circle 50.Mrs Jalal is guided by a belief in the holistic development of staff and student alike and so implements initiatives to hone their intellectual , emotional, social, physical, artistic, creative and spiritual potentials.
Mrs. Jalal is an effective UZAZI Foundation operative and consultant helping us improve our effectiveness.
